Dr. Jen was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Saskatchewan where her interests in health sciences led her down the path of scientific research. She obtained both her undergrad and masters degrees in Anatomy and Cell Biology. Having an artistic flair and a desire to provide health care on a one-on-one basis, she decided to go back to school and pursue her dental degree. She graduated from the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan in 2006 and moved with her husband to Southern Alberta to begin her practice. She fell in love with the Foothills - both the people and the mountains.
“I wanted to invest both my skill as a general dentist and the creation of a new first class dental office in the community in which I live.”
Dr. Jen enjoys all aspects of dentistry including restorative treatment (fillings and root canals), oral surgery (extractions of 3rd molars/wisdom teeth and non-restorable teeth), and prosthodontics (crown and bridge and dental implant treatment). She has taken extra training in order to provide oral sedation dentistry commonly known as ‘sleep dentistry’.
“I love what I do! I find such fulfillment in guiding a fearful patient through their treatment to a point where they no longer fear dental care and realize the importance of regular check-up and maintenance visits.”
Dr. Jen feels that patient education is of the utmost importance when it comes to providing custom treatment plans for patient’s unique dental needs. For this reason, CottonWood Dental has invested in technology that helps to diagnose and provide patients with a better understanding of their oral environment. Digital x-rays can help to detect decay much earlier than conventional x-rays while minimizing x-ray exposure. Intraoral cameras take pictures of your teeth giving you a view of your mouth you have never seen before.
“I like to take the time to educate my patients - help them understand their unique dental needs and answer their questions and concerns.”
